Banned Books Week

The last week in September is "Banned Book Week" an annual week sponsored by the American Library Association and Amnesty International, that celebrates the freedom to read. It was established in 1982.

Most of the banned books are by award winning prominent authors. These books include The Bluest Eye, The Handmaid's Tale, The Color Purple, The House on Mango Street, I know Why the Caged Bird Sings and 1984.

Reach out to your local library to check out and read some of these important books.
